Steve Ra was born in Detroit, MI and went back to Detroit at age 17 to live and find his roots, when doing so he discovered Techno and fell in love with the music he then developed his passion at age 17, given the influences surrounding him. It began with inspiration from parties at the Bankle, Seeing artists performing on the turntables he quickly immersed himself in the house party and the Detroit music scene in the 1990's, and soon moved to promoting Disco 2000 in Brooklyn, NY. After making connections there, he returned to his love of the Detroit underground music scene. This D.j and producer uses turntables to move people with driving energy. This synergy of talent and using it as a form to "express" himself and connect with the crowd. Steve Ra became a member of a crew called the Wax Kings, which is comprised of talented dj's from the Detroit and Ypsilanti area. Steve's mission is to keep the spirit of music as the driving and healing force, here in Detroit where The Detroit Electronic Music Festival attracts famous DJ's whom he has both been inspired by, and worked with many of, since the first year. He works tirelessly to encourage music as the force which energizes us to act as a community, never ceasing to work with others to create epic shows. Ra also started a show to help promote other artists that make a great impact on Detroit called Detroit Sessions via The Rhythmic Lounge Radio every Sunday.
